Real Madrid offer Vinícius Júnior new €22M a year deal – sources

Real Madrid has renewed its efforts to keep Vinícius Júnior, offering him an improved contract since the FIFA World Cup 2026, according to sources speaking to ESPN. This comes after negotiations had been stagnant for almost a year.

Speculation around the future of the Brazil international has intensified, especially with his current contract set to expire in June 2027 and the reported interest from Premier League champions Arsenal.

Real Madrid’s latest offer stands at approximately €22 million ($25 million) annually, a rise from previous proposals discussed over the last two seasons. The specifics of the potential contract extension’s length have not been disclosed.

Despite this increase, there remains a notable gap between Madrid’s offer and Vinícius Júnior’s expectations, which are around €30 million. Additionally, details regarding the duration of the new contract are still unclear.

Currently, Vinícius earns about €17.5 million each year and is entering the final year of his existing agreement. Should he decide against renewing, he could leave the Bernabéu on a free transfer at the end of the upcoming season and is eligible to negotiate with other clubs starting in January.

Sources indicate that Vinícius and his representatives are acutely aware that this contract could define the trajectory of his career at the age of 26. They assert that Real Madrid should duly acknowledge his contributions to the club since arriving in 2018, notably scoring in two Champions League finals.

Last week, reports from ESPN suggested that Madrid would consider allowing Vinícius to depart this summer if a contract agreement is not achieved.

Vinícius returned to training on Monday after a break following the World Cup, going through medical evaluations and practicing with his teammates under new coach José Mourinho.
