Police probe misconduct allegations at Austin FC youth academy

Authorities are currently investigating allegations of misconduct involving players at the Austin FC youth academy. This inquiry has led to the expulsion of certain players and a suspension of activities for the affected age group.

In a statement released on Friday, Austin FC Academy revealed that it became aware in December 2025 of claims regarding “youth-on-youth” misconduct among some players. The academy promptly reported these allegations to the Austin police, Major League Soccer, and the U.S. Center for SafeSport.

Details regarding the specific misconduct have not been disclosed by either the academy or law enforcement. “We can confirm an active investigation is underway. However, due to the involvement of juveniles, we cannot share further information at this time,” police officials stated.

The investigation was initially reported by The Guardian. According to the academy’s statement, action was taken following complaints from families, although it did not specify the age group of the players implicated. The academy has youth teams ranging from under-13 to under-19 that compete in MLS Next and provides educational support for the players.

The involved players have been suspended and expelled, resulting in the cessation of all activities for the affected age group within the academy.

“Austin FC Academy prioritizes the health and safety of our youth players above everything else,” the statement emphasized. “We continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement during this ongoing investigation. Throughout this process, Austin FC Academy and MLS have taken decisive actions guided by our unwavering commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our youth players, and we will persist in doing so.”
