Neymar completes first World Cup training session before Brazil vs. Scotland

Neymar has successfully completed his first full training session with the Brazil national team on Sunday. The Santos forward is anticipated to take the field in Wednesday’s Group C match against Scotland, taking place in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Having missed Brazil’s initial two matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026, including a decisive 3-0 victory over Haiti on Friday, Neymar’s return is seen as a crucial development for the team.

On social media, Neymar expressed his excitement about rejoining his teammates after recovering from a right calf injury. The 34-year-old wrote, “Thank you, God. I’m so happy!!!”

Neymar has not played since May 17 for Santos, making his recovery a significant boost for Brazil. With 79 goals in 129 international appearances, he is the country’s top scorer.

“We’re all delighted to have him back in training and on the pitch with us,” said Flamengo midfielder Lucas Paquetá. “He’s crucial for our national team, has an outstanding history here, and can provide great assistance.”

Neymar is competing in his fourth World Cup and aims to claim his first major title with Brazil, who last lifted the trophy in 2002.

Regarding Neymar’s potential last opportunity for World Cup success, Paquetá remarked, “I believe so… we players take pride in our five stars and in representing everyone’s dream. We aim to fulfill that dream.”

Currently, Brazil tops Group C with four points, tied with Morocco, while Scotland sits in third place with three points.
