John Stones joins Inter Milan on free transfer after Man City exit

John Stones has officially signed with Serie A club Inter Milan on a free transfer, as confirmed by the team. The 32-year-old departed Manchester City following the expiration of his contract earlier this summer, ending a successful ten-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Stones has inked a two-year deal with Inter Milan, which will keep him at the club until June 2028. His decision to join the Italian side follows a productive campaign where he played three matches for England in the recent FIFA World Cup 2026, helping the team secure a commendable third place.

Since joining Manchester City from Everton in 2016, Stones emerged as a pivotal player under manager Pep Guardiola. His time at City was marked by tremendous success, including six Premier League titles and three FA Cups, along with being a member of the treble-winning squad that celebrated victories in the Champions League, league title, and FA Cup in 2023.

Stones’s arrival at Inter Milan comes at a time when the club is basking in glory after winning Serie A last season, finishing significantly ahead of second-placed Napoli by a margin of 11 points.
