Casemiro to make Inter Miami debut against CF Montreal after receiving visa

Newly signed Inter Miami midfielder Casemiro is set to make his debut in the Major League Soccer match against CF Montreal on Saturday night after obtaining his P-1 Visa. This marks a significant step for the Brazilian star, who expressed his eagerness to join the team.

Casemiro’s Journey to Inter Miami

Inter Miami secured Casemiro as a free agent until the end of the 2027 MLS Sprint season, with an opportunity to extend his contract until June 2029. The midfielder decided to part ways with Manchester United as his contract concluded on June 30.

Prioritizing a move to Inter Miami over other MLS options, Casemiro stated, “What motivates me the most, and I think this is true for every player, is winning and continuing to grow. The project the Club presented to me, along with the effort everyone made to bring me here, means a lot to me.”

His commitment to the club is evident, as he noted, “I can’t wait to get started so I can repay that trust — not only during the 90 minutes on matchday, but every day in training as well.”

Team Dynamics and Future Plans

Interestingly, Casemiro will not take up a designated player (DP) spot in Inter Miami’s roster. Currently, the team’s three DPs include Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Germán Berterame.

In other news, MLS has launched a review of a tampering allegation against Inter Miami regarding Casemiro’s signing. Reports indicated that LA Galaxy had filed a claim after asserting that Inter Miami contacted Casemiro without securing the Discovery Priority first.

Casemiro clarified his position, revealing his conversation with the Galaxy, where he expressed his desire to join Miami. “I wanted to join Miami because, in the end, it’s a city I love. My wife, my kids, and I always visit when we have days off,” he said.

Though Inter Miami has reached a settlement with the Galaxy concerning the Discovery Priority of Casemiro, the league’s review of the claim will continue. This incident raises questions about the operational dynamics within the league.
